Webb County law enforcement is now better equipped to combat crime in our area.
Wednesday morning at Commissioner's Court, the office of Webb County Constable Precinct 1 announced the acquisition of new vehicles and equipment.
The new additions have been acquired through a grant given by the operation Stonegarden Program. Precinct 1 Constable Rudy Rodriguez describes what improvements the county will soon see.
"We purchased a couple of vehicles, bullet-proof vests, AR 15s. Plus, they gave us a couple of thousand of dollars for overtime. So, our officers will be able to go out there to protect and serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
Although the equipment will be used by the constable's office, state and local agencies who work with Webb County will also benefit from the acquisition.
