Take a look around the city and you'll notice the increased amount of traffic. Cars loaded with luggage and gifts with Paisanos on their way to Mexico for the Christmas holiday. Police are asking for people around the city to be aware and use caution.
"We need their cooperation and most of all their patience. there is going to be personnel redirecting especially to those streets leading up to those international bridges."
This is the second weekend Paisanos are in the city. With this weekend even busier since we're just days away from Christmas.
"It's something we expect every year. this year in particular because the holiday is right after the weekend. It will bring a lot of people because everybody's off."
Baeza says the area that will be most congested those next to IH 35.
"If you're going out to the mall you're probably going to have a hard time finding parking spaces which is a good thing for the economy."
And it's not only the roadways that will be full of people. Expect shopping centers to be packed with holiday shoppers. But there is a way to avoid the big crowds.
"Everybody right now if you still have holiday shopping to do...probably will add to stress rather than take away from it. but again if you go at different times of the day you'll avoid packed stores in shambles and displays."
