After once advancing to the state quarterfinal game together, Head Coach Oscar Villasenor and new Head Coach Eric Villasenor will be standing on opposite sides of the field come Thursday. "It's going to be emotional for everybody. It's going to be just bittersweet, whoever wins and whoever loses but like I said before, it's going to be great" But now they're family is split. Just what sideline will the Villasenor family sit on when they walk into the SAC Thursday night? "You'll see half of them in purple and gold and you'll see half of them in Silver and Black. It will be tough. It will be emotional like I mentioned, but it will be exciting at the same time." And what makes the game more exciting is these two will both be seeking their first district wins of the season. Back in 1995, Coach Oscar Villasenor remembers standing on the sideline with his son after they won the district championship together: Oscar the coach and Eric the quarterback. The two recall those memories like it was yesterday, and are looking forward to making a new one on Thursday. "I'm looking forward to it in a way and in a way, I'm not looking forward to it because in my 20 some years of head coaching now, it's going to be different. He played for me in high school, he coached for me in La Joya and now I get to coach against him. It's going to be fun, but at the same time it's going to be challenging." So just who will come out the winner in this father and son district rivalry? The big game is only four days away.
