If you live in South Laredo, you may have noticed the heavy traffic in one neighborhood where thousands lined up to receive help from the South Texas Food Bank. The City of Laredo and South Texas Food Bank teamed up once again today to distribute bags of food to an estimated four thousand people. Planning the distribution took some work. City and Food Bank employees, along with dozens of volunteers and a strong police force helped navigate traffic from the registration booth to the pick-up point. Organizers say the day went smoothly. "It's been very good participation. People are anxious, I can understand. But, hopefully, everyone feels good about it," says Councilman Mike Garza, a board member of the South Texas Food Bank. Today's event was all made possible thanks to a grant the food bank received. And it seems like they've been getting more assistance this year. Tomorrow on Pro 8 News, what one food bank food member is saying about funding for the food bank. Details tomorrow at ten.
