Two Laredo institutions find themselves on a national list of colleges and universities. Laredo Community College is ranked the number one college in the nation for Hispanic students. The college database released its listing this week for the top colleges and universities in the country that attract and support Hispanic students. At LCC 95% of students are Hispanic with an enrollment of close to 14,000. A total of 33 institutions are part of the database listing. Doctor Ray Keck spoke today about the honor saying it shows the support the university has from the Laredo public. "We know that we do a tremendous job serving our Hispanic community in Laredo and South Texas, to be recognized nationally as one of the very best doing this is a great honor and it reflects the tremendous devotion of the people that work at this institution." TAMIU also made that list they are ranked as the third in the nation among most popular colleges and universities for Hispanic students. Students at the institution are also proud of the distinction. TAMIU reports that 94% of its students are of Hispanic descent.
