According to the American Medical Association, every 10 seconds one of America's 78 million baby boomers turns 65. That means for physicians, an increase in elderly patients and the conditions that come with age.
That's why Laredo Medical Center started their 'Senior Circle' program 8 years ago. It's a membership program that uses innovative ways to teach about health care topics important to seniors. An open house was held Tuesday to invite seniors to learn more about the program, including crochet and jewelry classes, monthly luncheons and trips.
One member tells us it's a great way to stay involved. Alma Gomez, a Senior Circle member says "Well, people need to stay active, they need to fellowship with other people, whether it is volunteering or whether it's helping others, or going to pray for people; we do have the chaplaincy program, as well. So, it's wonderful to stay active."
