Twenty six people lost their lives last Friday when a man walked into an elementary school and started shooting. Twenty of those victims were children. Since then the debate over guns has become heated.
"I don't think anybody should have a weapon, an automatic weapon that's military style."
An assault rifle was used in the deadly massacre. Garza says people shouldn't blame the whole thing just on guns.
"But it's the person. Somebody has to use the gun. So it's the mentality of the person."
Many people around the country have called for guns to be pulled from the shelves of stores. The national rifle association put out a statement today saying quote:
“We were shocked saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown. Out of respect for the families and as a matter of common decency we have given time for mourning prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting. The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.”
"Yeah I own quite a few guns, yes."
Dave Peterson says he owns guns and enjoys hunting. He hopes any new laws would allow people to keep their hunting rifles, but feels there should be gun laws.
"But I think all these automatic rifles should be taken off the market."
