Students from sandy hook elementary loaded up their backpacks and headed back to school for the first time since the deadly shooting. "I believe they need to go back. It's all part of the process. normality, back to their routines. It takes them back to what they were accustomed to." "I think it's a good idea. I mean they have to keep on going to school. they have to move on and it's hard, but that's the only way they can cope with it." The lieutenant of the Monroe police department says the kids seemed ready to see their classmates. "Watching them get off the bus, most of the kids were excited. They had seen friends they hadn't seen in awhile, they were anxious to get into the hallways and meet up with the other kids and you could see that the teachers had the same response, they were quite excited to see the students all together. They've been separately, one on one, small groups, but I think they were all genuinely excited to see them as a group." No one we spoke to said they thought the students needed more time to grieve, but maybe other services. "It's probably best fr them to get counseling and get on with their lives." "Bad things happen in life and we regret it definitely and education comes first. It's ok for them to go back and we should never forget what happened."
