The cold blooded murder that took the lives of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife ,Cynthia have shocked the nation. They were found shot to death inside their home Saturday, with friends, family and officials commenting on the matter. Kaufman County is a little over seven hours from Laredo, which hits home to some people we talked to. We set out to get local reaction about this horrific tragedy. "It's a sick world. There's too many crimes going on and something must be done about it." This resident of Houston says there needs to be more security, especially for those in law enforcement and district attorney's offices not only in the suburb east of Dallas. Another person tells us the same thing. "All people that work in law enforcement need to be extremely careful." Not everyone is shocked by this violent act. "It will happen in other cities, but I don't know what time frame it will happen." The district attorney and his wife were allegedly gunned down in their pajamas, with their dogs in their kennels. "It definitely shows that they were out to get them." Authorities in Kaufman County are staying mum on further details of the murder. Casings of a 223 caliber rifle were recovered at the couples' home. A neighbor says he heard five to six shots around the time the McLellands were shot at their home.
