Laredoans React To TSA Knife Ban Lifted

Recently the TSA announced a change in what passengers can take on board a plane.
Before, knives off any sort were not allowed, but that will soon be changing.
Our Lauren Kendrick joins us now with more.
Imagine getting on a plane and the person sitting next to you having a pocket knife with them.
That's exactly what you could see as soon as next month.
We asked people traveling in the Laredo airport what they think about that.
Not since before the tragedy of 9/11 could people carry on certain items. After that deadly attack where terrorists took box cutters on the plane they hijacked, the TSA has had strict rules, until now. We wanted to hear what people in Laredo thought about this new change.
"I work in the oil fields, so everyone carries a pocket knife with them."
He did not know about the new change and says he does feel concerned.
"I'm not concerned when there's people around me with a pocket knife, but the point is I don't know if it's the same on an airplane."
This is the first time in ten years that the TSA is allowing passengers to carry these type of items.
Other items that will be allowed to be taken on a plane are golf clubs, hockey sticks and even wiffle ball bats.
"You have baseball teams and other sporting events that are going on and it's kind of a hardship for those people that have to check their luggage."
This traveler from Dallas says he really doesn't think these new changes are a big deal.
"I don't think it's going to have a big impact. I don't feel we're not safe already. I think we're pretty safe."
Since the announcement was made on Tuesday, flight attendants and other airline employees have voiced their opposition.
If you're planning to carry on these items, you will have to wait until April 25th when the ban is officially lifted.
