Laredo law enforcement helped raise money while getting a workout in the process. Special Olympics Texas and local law enforcement got their burliest buddies together Friday and it was all for a good cause. The scene was electric as eight different teams of Laredo law enforcement compete for bragging rights at this years annual fire truck pull challenge. "The best thing that we have out here is our fire engine pull and that is an event to help Special Olympics athletes who are going to be competing. So we raise money for them.” Teams of ten put their biceps and triceps to the test all while raising money for Special Olympics Texas and their athletes all while bringing the different law enforcement agencies together. " Within the Laredo community you will not see a better law enforcement family. Our partnership here is beyond measure." Kids from both schools districts took part in the festivities and it gives them a chance to see a different side to law enforcement. Raising money for a good cause, agents have this message for the community: "Just to thank the community and all the agencies for their support. All the agents that got together today and just to show the community that we do care.” Competition was fierce, but in the end the border patrol brush dogs walked away with first place honors. But the real winner here would be the Special Olympics and the money collected for the organization.
