Local Leaders Wishing New Mexican President Well

Mexico’s new President Enrique Pena Nieto is at the center of conversation for many people who are watching and wondering if he can bring a solution to violence in Mexico.
Some of the people wishing the president well are Laredo's city leaders who say what Pena Nieto does from here on will have a direct effect here at home.
Be it business,
“Mexico being the number 1 trade partner.”
Or issues of security.
Whatever happens in Mexico has a direct effect on the border City of Laredo.
That's why local city leaders say they're standing behind Mexico's new President Enrique Pena Nieto and wishing him well.
Pena Nieto is now expected to help clean house and put a stop to cartels.
And leaders here say it won't be an easy task.
But one that has to get done.
“Crimes being committed in Mexico that require resources from the U.S. side. I’m talking about weapons, stolen vehicles and certainly recruitment of people to carry drugs, themselves or being couriers for currency.”
A stable Mexico means stable business.
business that can flourish.
“We have hundred of businesses on both sides of the border. we have customs brokers, freight forwarders, its huge has huge impacts on families.”
Leaders here say the hope is for a peaceful Mexico.
“We have to be cognoscente on how Mexico affects us. i wish him well and i think he's going to do well.”
Local leaders say the problems in Mexico weren't created overnight and won't be fixed overnight, but hope new president and his staff can make a difference over the next few years.
The President of Mexico serves a six year term.
