Local Man Shares Views On Gun Control

Some relatives of shooting victims are urging Americans to get behind the Obama administration's ideas to curb gun violence. Family members spoke outside the white house today shortly after President Obama unveiled a list of proposals. But not everyone agrees with them. A local resident who asked to be identified as rick explains.
"Every time there is a crime or homicide or a school related death, what happens is more people come out and they're screaming for gun control and gun control does not stop the violence."
Rick feels his second amendment is not being taken seriously.
"As a result of that killing spree, law abiding Americans are being punished. we're being attacked, our second amendment."
As a hunter since the age of fifteen, Rick feels people who enjoy the sport and are mentally stable should be allowed to buy these high powered weapons.
"Or assault rifles or shotguns or hunting rifles, then what's next? We lose everything."
But recently Vice President Biden had a different take on that.
"High-capacity magazines don't have a practical sporting purpose or hunting purpose. As one hunter told me, if you've got 12 rounds, if you've got 12 rounds, it means you've already missed the deer 11 times. You should pack the sucker in at that point. You don't deserve to have a gun period if you're that bad."
Biden goes on to say he's ready for this fight and he knows it won't be easy, especially because of who it will benefit.
" These are our kids. This is what they're thinking about. And so what we should be thinking about is our responsibility to care for them, and shield them from harm, and give them the tools they need to grow up and do everything that they're capable of doing."
Rick says he does feel that schools should have armed police officers as well as undercover police officers to protect all students.
