Loop 20 Accident Sends 2 People to the Hospital

By KGNS News

A serious car accident in central Laredo leaves two men injured. One man is in serious condition and another in stable condition after two cars collide. Laredo police and fire department responded to the accident on Bob Bullock Loop just south of the Laredo Energy Arena. Traffic was backed up for blocks as the fire department excavated a man from his 2004 green Chevy, which was completely mangled on the side of the loop after colliding with a palm tree following an impact with a 2004 white GMC. We talked to Laredo police about how such a severe accident could happen. Investigator Joe Baeza says, “The green pickup truck that's located directly behind us was traveling northbound on Loop 20 while a white pickup truck was traveling south on Loop 20. According to some preliminary eyewitness accounts, the white pickup began swerving in and out of its lane heading south eventually traveling onto the northbound lane and colliding head on with this green pickup truck.”
Police also tell us both men are lucky to be alive after being involved in such a crash. They have just called us to let us know that the driver of the 2004 green Chevy’s name is Edmundo Gutierrez and was transported to Laredo Medical Center after being cut out from his vehicle. Meanwhile, the driver of the white GMC, Miguel Angel Navarro, is also at LMC and is in stable condition.
