Many parts of the state like Dallas and Houston have tolls roads, but until today, we didn't know that Laredo had tolls too. This video we discovered on YouTube is shot close to the train tracks just before the intersection of Washington and Santa Ursula. For a small fee, a homeless man will lift the safety arm that goes down a few minutes before the train arrives. Many Laredoans know the frustration of sitting in traffic at the intersection so the man is making a killing providing a service to drivers. Of course, the safety arm is there for a reason, and crossing a train track while the safety arm is down can be potentially very dangerous.
The Laredoan shooting the video didn't pay the toll. That’s a toll that guy wasn't able to collect.
