Man Investigated For Alleged Animal Cruelty

By KGNS News

A concerned resident called our newsroom reporting a problem they say has been going on for a while now, a case of alleged animal cruelty. Of the animals, there are donkeys, horses, lambs, pigs, and a ram all behind a body shop located on highway 59. The person who called this issue in also informed us of the piles of dirt where they claim dead animals are buried. Not to mention the cruelty of keeping animals out in this heat, now people are worried about the possible disease the dead animals might pose. When we went to check out the situation, the health department had just arrived.
"They have several animals.”
“What are the conditions of the animals?”
“ Now the other officer is checking that."
We could see the health department officers checking out the animals and their current living situation. We tried to talk to the owner of Jet auto body, but were denied. We were able to speak with an employee who we asked if he thought it was a problem.
"I don't know.”
“It smells really bad right?”
“ Yeah...si."
He went on to say he doesn't know how long the animals have been there since he just started working at the business. We were told by the health department officers that the animals would not be removed from the property until tomorrow.
