Man With Severed Leg Discovered On Interstate 35

Border Patrol officials have now responded to allegations that their agents are not adequately trained to administer first aid situations calling for assistance. This, after a man is found bleeding to death on the side of Interstate 35. Fortunately, a group of good Samaritans stop to help. Orlando Garza has more in the Pro8News exclusive. Priscilla Villarreal who works for a wrecker service was called to Encinal when a trailer truck rolled over.
On her way back home she says she saw something.
She says,"we were going about 70 mph an it was a quick glance, I saw his arm with a white t-shirt and that's when I saw him, I shouted go back! go back!"
Ms. Villarreal says she couldn't believe her eyes,"that's when I heard the man yelling when we got close the man started shouting because his leg had been amputated."
She says the man dragged himself through a creek about two blocks from the train track.
Mrs. Villarreal says she doesn't consider herself a hero."I just helped a person in need but when I was there he said 'Gracias señora! Usted es mi angel de la guardia. Dios me la puso en mi camino para que me ayudara."
He called her his guardian angel.
When a Border Patrol agent arrived she says his demeanor was very callous.
Villarreal says,"he just flashed his flash light and said 'it's what you get for getting on a train trying to enter the United States'”.
After the ambulance and more Border Patrol agents aided the man, the terror wasn't over.
"They were looking for his foot so they picked him up and the foot fell from his his pants, I started screaming. It was horrific."
She says she was glad she had to go to Encinal for the roll over or else their paths may have never have crossed.
"I thank God for letting me see him on the side of the road, cause if no one else would have stopped he would have died there."
The entire Border Patrol Agent workforce is first aid and CPR certified to assist in life threatening situations.
