A chemical reaction is to blame for a fire at a local scrap metal yard Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters and yard employees worked to contain a pile of metal that went up in flames at around three, Sunday afternoon, in the 2300 block of Scott Street.
Luckily, no injuries were reported and none of the surrounding building or homes was damaged.
Crews had the fire out by four in the afternoon.
Investigators say the cause, a chemical reaction within that pile of metal.
