Corrections officer, Steven Villarreal was arrested for online solicitation of a minor last week and was released on bond.
Valerie Bragg spoke to a concerned mother about Villarreal in this Pro 8 News exclusive.
This mother filed a police report back in April after Villarreal sent her inappropriate pictures and text messages and now says she is sick to her stomach that she was not taken seriously.
The mother does not want to be identified in fear of retaliation so we have distorted her voice in the interview.
"It makes me mad, it makes me mad sick because, I'm a parent, I have kids and I'm there to protect out kids. People like this shouldn't be around our kids."
This woman filed a report with the police department in April, over disturbing pictures and text messages she says were sent to her phone by Villarreal, but she told Pro 8 News nothing was ever done about it.
"It wasn't enough evidence to open a case on this and therefore it would have to be dismissed. He had no prior arrests and basically they couldn't do anything about it, telling me it was his first offense.”
This concerned mother was uncomfortable thinking back to the day she filed the report, but says she was even more disturbed when she learned now he has moved on to minors.
"I got infuriated. I just got sick, it made me sick to my stomach because if they had listened to me back in April, this would have been prevented even though no one got hurt physically, YET. Is that what were waiting for?"
Villarreal is a parent himself and that leaves this mother with a big concern.
"Honestly I do feel for his daughter if she does not come out and cry out to this if she is in danger. Because I heard from him at one time that he had made some comments that were kind of disturbing as a parent, I said to myself 'this is not right.' And he found it kind of funny."
This mother also says she contacted UISD to see if will continue to allow Villarreal to attend after school activities.
She says her phone calls have not yet be returned.
