At a press conference this morning, the Mayor for Nuevo Laredo spoke about the recent shootings. At the conference, Ramon Garza Barrios said their priority is keeping the community safe.
The mayor said the violence on Friday stopped all events and shut down the city in general, and he says that will not be tolerated.
According to reports, 12 people are dead and another 21 people were injured. Sixteen of those injured were released from a Nuevo Laredo hospital; the others remain in stable condition.
Garza Barrios says the most important thing for the residents in Nuevo Laredo is having peace and calm.
Barrios also says after the shooting on Friday, life in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico has returned back to normal.
