Overseas Ballots: Deadline Monday, Aug. 6

By KGNS News

There’s no doubt it was a tight race.
These recent elections when a new comer beat out an 8- year veteran of the court, Commissioner Frank Sciaraffa.
The difference was only four votes.
But, now an ironic situation, as election officials tell us they’re still waiting for the return of some ballots mailed overseas.
The number of ballots, four ballots, to four members of the military.
The votes tallied earlier this week show Mike Montemayor took the race for Webb County Commissioner Pct. 1., with the incumbent trailing closely behind.
But, not everyone was in town to vote on Election Day.
So upon request, those fighting for our country overseas, also get a chance to submit their ballots
Democratic party chair Sylvia Palombo says the deadline for those four members of the military to return their votes is tomorrow.
“ It’s my understanding from the office there are four ballots that are military ballots. They are coming from overseas, and we have not received them. But, there is a deadline, and the deadline would be today. However, since today is Sunday, we extended it to Monday, at 5 o’clock. All these ballots come from Commissioner Pct. 1. So, it makes it interesting simply for the fact that it is four ballots he lost by. But, we are still waiting for it.”
Again all those members of the military coincidently all live in precinct #1.
