Police End Search for Human Remains

By KGNS News

The search for human remains in south Laredo is now over following the discovery of a body in Chacon creek.
Authorities will now begin the investigation into what led to the person’s death.
And nearby residents say they can't believe the human remains were so close to their home all this time.
They basically took aerial shots and determined a plan of marking a very large search and making that search closer and meeting at some point.
Several law enforcement agencies coming together to begin another day of searching.
And almost as soon as it started the search was over.
“Within the first hour of the search the swat team found reminisces of the body there its in advanced stages of decomposition.”
The body is believed to be of an adult and was fully clothed.
“It does look like wildlife did disturb the scene itself but we're trying to gather any evidence we can in the deep revine of the creek.”
Police say finding and recovering the remains wasn't easy.
You can see by where that house is sitting just how steep this area of Chacon creek really is.
A nearby resident who didn't want to be identified told us it was quite an ordeal and she’s amazed police were able find something hidden in the brush so quickly.
“I didn’t expect anything like that to be taken care of this fast.”
The search began Friday when a dog was seen playing with a human arm.
The findings led to a large investigation that turned up more remains.
And caused sadness for a neighbor who now wonders how the person died.
Police have turned over the body to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
Authorities are now trying to determine what led to the person's death.
It’s still not known if the person was a man or a woman.
