The city council discussed the possibility of the addition of a police substation in District 3.
The Cigarroa building that across the old and abandoned Mercy Hospital is where the new substation will be set. Councilman Alex Perez explains how that neighborhood would benefit from the addition of watchful eyes: "It will bring more safety and security to the area, in an area that's going down. The buildings that are around that whole hospital area are being abandoned and let go and crime is on the rise there. We are trying to put a stop to that."
Councilman Perez says the city, a contractor and the owner of the building will gather to negotiate on the details of bringing the building up to par within the coming months.
