A proposal has been made to ban texting while driving in the state of Texas.
Texas has already banned any use of mobile devices by drivers under the age of 18.
The house transportation committee voted six to one in favor of the bill on Tuesday.
We spoke to some people around the city about what they think.
Crystal Newsome is in favor of the ban,"at the second you're looking, somebody can just stop right ahead of you and there could be a car crash or it could even be worse and be fatal." texting while driving is already illegal in 39 states.
