The Rio Grande International Study Center held it's annual meeting today. Presentations were given about all of the work the organization has done in the past year from cleaning creeks and trying to keep fracking spills off the roadways. They also discussed a new initiative.

"We're re-launching our campaign to dramatically reduce the number of plastic bags that are used and discarded here in our city for aesthetic reasons but environmental reasons all of which directly impact our river."
That plastic bag initiative is expected to go into effect next month.
