Reaction to the lifting of the boil alert came swiftly in Rio Bravo and El Cenizo but does everybody really think this is the end to their water woes? We sent our James Johnson to talk to the people, James.
I visited Rio Bravo to talk to residence about the ban being lifted and whether or not they feel the water is in fact safe.
Both Rio Bravo and El Cenizo have been under a boil water alert for several weeks now and after working with T.C.E.Q Webb county leaders have meet the requirements to lift the ban. In a press conference earlier today they made the announcement of the ban being lifted, so how long will it take before residence use the water? We talked to some residence to find out.
[cg:newsuper\susana monjaraz\rio bravo] 19:42:23:12 maybe at t he beginning I won't be very trusting until I really know. It just happened to fast. 20:10:51:27 I just washed my dishes there’s no clean water there.
According to Webb county leaders they understand the hardship many of the residence where forced to undertake during the water boil alert and plan to help people out with some of their bills. But for one woman in Rio Bravo, she has to see it to believe it.
20:12:10:10 We’ve heard a lot of rumors there going to help us out, but there just rumors. 20:11:46:27 our bill comes back 178 dollars and we haven't even used the water how did that happen?
Residence I talked to be happy to hear the ban has finally been lifted but say it will take some time before they start using the water. Residences have seen how hard Webb County leaders have been working and say they can trust them.
19:44:03:11 the mayor has been fighting for this everyday 19:45:01:15 we think we can trust it now
Webb county leaders can't stress enough how important it is that people flush out the old water from their systems. They plan to hand out fliers this weekend to explain the proper way to do it. For KGNS, Im James Johnson.
