Registration for Blue Santa Toys Begins

Local moms, dads and grandparents were out at the Laredo Police Department today signing up their kids for this year's Blue Santa program.
The program serves families who can't afford to buy their children Christmas gifts this year.
Almost 400 kids made it on Blue Santa's nice list in just the first hours of registration for this year's police blue Santa program.
Including the grandchildren of a local woman who is a little worried about Christmas this year.
“I wont be able to afford this year much for them.”
Shes raising three grandkids and helping raise another.
“I don’t have work but one job now and its kinda hard to buy them gifts.”
But that’s when Blue Santa steps in to help.
“We hear a lot of stories. Every family member is so happy, so excited. Very appreciative of the program.”
Officers reminding the community that they're here to protect and serve.
Helping make sure all kids have presents under the tree.
“I really want to say thank you very much and glad that there are a lot of people out there that have a good heart and are thinking about the children also.”
“The spirit of Christmas should be about joy or happiness and opening a gift on Christmas night. That’s what the Blue Santa is all about making sure that every child enjoys the Christmas spirit.”
Registration for Blue Santa is between now and Thursday anytime from 10am to 6pm. just come down to the City Hall Annex on Lloop 20.
