School lunches are getting a taste test. United ISD students are the official taste testers of next year's school menus.
The Laredo Energy Arena hosted a 'Top Chef' style tasting of school lunches. Students rated dishes like pizza, tamales, burgers and breakfast foods for next year's cafeteria menu. Dietician Enrique Lima says it's important for the kids to taste everything: “We want to make sure, the way it's worked before is we pretty much choose what we serve them. But now, we want to make it so they are choosing what's on the menu, because who's eating the food? They are."
The selected menu items will appear on next year's school lunch menu.
