Man Sentenced to Prison for Threatening Security Guard

By KGNS News

A second suspect has been sentenced to federal prison for an altercation involving a gun at a local restaurant last year.
Fernando Perez, 28, was sentenced to 41-months in federal court for illegally possessing a firearm.
The charges stem to an incident back in February of last year at Coyote Creek where Perez, and another suspect, Ruben Ibarra, allegedly threatened a security guard and several customers with a glock 9-millimeter pistol.
Perez was the one who went to the car and retrieved the weapon for Ibarra to use in the incident.
Laredo police officers responding to the call saw Perez running with the gun in hand and recovered the loaded weapon, though it was jammed at the time.
Perez was arrested in August of last year and pled not guilty to the charge.
He was found guilty in October and will spend 41-months in federal prison, followed by a two-year supervised release.
