Seven Laredoans on board stalled Carnival Cruise ship

By KGNS News

Thousands of people are stranded on a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico, including seven Laredoans.

As of Tuesday, more than 4,200 passengers and crew on the carnival cruise ship, triumph, were in their third day onboard the crippled vessel.

The plan had been to tow the ship to Progreso, Mexico and fly passengers back to the united states, but strong currents pulled the ship 90 miles north, close to Mobile, Alabama. They're going to be towed to Mobile, and are expected to arrive sometime Thursday.

KGNS News has learned from family members that seven Laredoans have been on the ship.

Conditions on board have been described as deteriorating fast with 90-degree heat, no air conditioning, and few working toilets.
