Slimdown Showdown: Local Competes in Statewide Challenge
By KGNS News

With the start of the new year, comes the ever-popular weight loss resolution. While some of us do keep it, many may not. Valerie Gonzalez-Sanchez explains how one local grocery company is hungry for change.

HEB is challenging 25 lucky contestants to think differently about their food and their health with their 'Slimdown Showdown.' The objective of this Slimdown challenge is to teach their contestants and their communities to think differently about their eating choices. Over 500 people registered across Texas to participate, but only 25 were selected. Among them is Bryancy Adams, an Encinal resident representing the Southwest.

Adams says the challenge will "give me the building blocks I need to have a healthy lifestyle for me, as well as, my family, especially my daughter. She's very young. She's only six. I want to teach good habits to her, and the right way to eat, so she can have a healthy life."

This challenge begins with a $100 shopping spree that is guided by a dietitian who teaches Adams how to read labels and make healthier choices. Contestants have 12 weeks to eat healthier, lose weight, and the winner will receive a $10,000 prize.

However, HEB is hoping to accomplish more than that, they want to change entire communities. That's why Adams, along with all the other contestants, will be blogging about their challenges in hopes to educate and inspire others in her community.

During this challenge, she needs your help to become HEB's Fan Favorite winner. To keep up with her you can visit her blog at:
