Some South Texas residents are concerned about new checkpoints being operated by the Department of Public Safety.
Local residents are not accustomed to this. Random checkpoints are being set up by state troopers to verify driver's licenses and auto insurance.
The State Department of Public Safety has taken this action saying the federal government is not doing its job to keep unsafe drivers off the road. Along local highways troopers may ask you to stop. Residents have reported that the state agency is working with border patrol -- sometimes picking up undocumented drivers and putting them into custody.
Meanwhile South Texas residents have been getting savvy. They've taken to social media in a way to get around some of these checkpoints.
