TAMIU Posts 2nd Straight Postseason Berth

By KGNS News

It was only two seasons ago that the TAMIU volleyball team struggled to a 1-25 finish, no where near the conference playoffs. After bringing in head coach Al Givens the team was able to make the postseason in 2011 but still couldn't reach a winning record. After Givens left this season, assistant coach Marlon Sano took over and has guided the Dustdevils to their first winning year since 2006.

With the conference tourney just around the corner, we talked to the Dustdevils about if they had met their expectations for this season.

"There's five matches where we felt we let go of, we felt we had control of and we let go but we attained the major goals, but how we got there we are a little less then satisfied with. We know we can get better."

"We reached our expectations to make the conference tournament, but we're not quite there yet. Our expectations are to win, so we are ready to go play and win."

TAMIU will travel to Fort Smith, Arkansas for the Heartland Conference tournament. They draw the Lions Friday night at 5 pm, a team that has beaten the Dustdevils 3-1 in both meetings this year.
