Terminally Ill Mother In Need

"I want my life back. it wasn't much of a life before but..."
Yolanda Allen, a single mother of four shows us her now empty car port that used to hold her only vehicle for getting around, before it was stolen.
"I can't even go Christmas shopping at Christmas time. All that's taken from me."
But aside the fact she says she can't go get her kids milk from the grocery store, there's a bigger reason why she needs help getting a car. She is terminally ill with a rare disease called Addisons type one that affects her auto immune system and attacks your organs, muscles and bones.
"I'm always in pain because I have fibromyalgia too which is a nerve ending disease and it affects me very much so."
Yolanda travels to San Antonio and the valley frequently for medical treatment, but since her truck was stolen on November first, having to ask for rides has added stress to her undetermined life.
"I was told at one point that I had three years. The last thing I was told is six years, so I don't even know how long I have."
Throughout this difficult time, she remains positive in part by who is by her side everyday. Her daughter Amanda gave up college scholarships to take on the role as her mother's full time care giver. She says she wouldn't trade it for anything.
"I get to enjoy life with my family while I've still got it, while my family's still here and still together."
Amanda bought her mom the truck with her income tax last year and was the one who had to break the news to her mother when it was stolen.
"Heartbreaking. It's disgusting to know that somebody would do that to a family that's already struggling enough to survive on their own."
Yolanda hopes people won't judge a book by it's cover. She's asking the community to help out her family at this time of year when being thankful for what you have is so important.
"I'm always telling my kids that family is all we've got when it comes down to it...is we've just got each other."
Yolanda could have taken out her piercings, but chose to stay true to herself and get people to help her not based on her appearance.
