Border Patrol agents halt a shipment of more than a ton and a half of marijuana at one of Laredo’s checkpoints.
It happened on Wednesday when a blue 2008 Freightliner tractor-trailer came into the I-35 checkpoint.
A canine unit alerted agents to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
An X-Ray scan showed a false compartment.
There were several cellophane-wrapped bundles inside holding more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana worth close to two and a half million dollars.
The drug, vehicle and driver were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
