Weather Service issues brushfire warnings

The National Weather Service warns Laredoans of the potential for brushfires during this hot, dry heat.
The extremely hot and dry weather conditions and temperatures in the high 80s making many in laredo change their routine...and take extra precautions.
Ramon Castillo tells us, “Well the heat is very unbearable. i mean the sweat is nasty and it gets sticky and sometimes it's necessary to take a couple of baths per day.
Carlos Valdez says, “Well it's slowing me down a little bit and it gets sweaty so that's why i carry around with me a big bottle of water just to be hydrated.”
One student we talked to is taking extra time on his way to class to pick up a cold beverage.
Hector Mendez says, “The weathers really humid and i went to starbucks to get myself a passion tea to refresh myself.
This type of weather isn't just uncomfortable...a red alert has been issued for the hot and dry conditions.
The National Weather Service has also issued a fire weather watch for this weekend.
The dry conditions and gusty northwinds are a combination for brushfires to start.
Eloy Vega from the Fire Department tells us, “During conditions like these there are important ways to keep you and your family safe.”
Vega says, "Be careful especially if you're cooking outside on sunday or working with machinery that creates any heat or sparks.”
Eloy Vega from the laredo fire department also warns us to be extra considerate during this warning.
Do not throw cigarette butts out the window while you are driving as they can be a deadly igniter of brushfires.
The Institute for Business and Home Safety issued wildfire preparedness tips such as keeping your roof clean and free of dangerous debris which can easily be ignited by traveling embers.
They also recommend cleaning your gutters and deck and carefully relocating any propane tanks.
