Talk about declaring citizenship at our port of entry.
Well thats what witnesses say it appears one woman tried to do not for herself but for her baby who she gave birth to right after crossing the bridge.
People calling into our newsroom told us the woman who turned out to be an Honduran citizen, rushed not past inspection, but to custom officials who assisted in the delivery.
We called CBP to confirm the incident and they released an official statement.
Yesterday morning, a 31-year-old Honduran national tried crossing at gateway to the Americas bridge one who applied for admission into the U.S.
The woman had no proper entry documents during inspection the women went into labor and CBP officers assisted with the delivery and immediately contacted paramedics who stabilized the woman and transported her to a local hospital.
While the mother is under medical supervision she remains under watch by CBP officers pending medical clearance for return to the bridge to continue her processing.
Now at this point CBP will not comment on what will happen to the baby or if it will be declared an American citizen since processing is still pending and by the way the baby is a girl.
