No one wants to see trash building up near their home, but that's exactly what neighbors near Chacon creek say they're experiencing. "What we want to do is figure out who's in charge of it. Is it the rail lines, is it the city? What we want to do is make this place a nice place, a prettier place." We spoke with residents around the area. They did not want to be on camera, but did tell us they are glad to see something being done. One woman tells us the mosquito problem is unbearable. "Get rid of the tires. Tires breed mosquitoes and mosquitoes spread disease." The city has held programs to clean up tires for that reason. The city dump allows people to take up to four tires for free. "It's a big problem, especially here in the southside and the westside." Another area Perez plans to fix is the roadway near the railroad that is visibly cracked. "The asphalt has not been maintained here in years and I've been trying to get this resolved for the last couple of years." The concerned resident who did not want to be on camera said driving over that area is very bad for her vehicle and is hoping it will get repaved.
