A city councilman is looking to reduce trash and help beautify Laredo our own orlando garza joins us with more. "Everywhere you go you see plastic bags on the street on the sidewalks in the creeks empty lots there all over the place." After a long hiatus, council member Alex Perez Jr. is revisiting a city ordinance that would reduce the consumption of plastic bags in the city . "That means you would have to take some of your bags the green bags you pay 50 cents for, and it's for the good of the environment." With the help of environmental advisory committee they Councilman Perez wants to review the ordinance and rewrite it to fit the citizens of Laredo, but do Laredoans want to reduce less plastic? a survey conducted by TAMIU will answer that question. "Those surveys are going to say it all the people of Laredo will speak with those 800 surveys and we should know the answer to that real soon.” For now the councilman and the environmental advisory board wait for the results of the survey putting their hopes in that bag. The survey is almost complete the last 45 survey should be completed next week.
