Extreme Wind In Laredo
The wind has been gusting all day long.
Leaves, dirt and tree branches can be seen blowing down neighborhoods.
Our Lauren Kendrick joins us with more.
You may have woken up this morning thinking it would be another scorcher outside like it was on Monday. But once you opened the door, but it was a different story.
We hit the streets to see what people think about it.
Homeowners might want to secure their trash cans from blowing away. We talked to a lady who said she walked outside to find hers down the street. Other people we spoke to were surprised too.
"This morning I was getting ready for school and all of a sudden I just see wind blowing all over the place."
This TAMIU student says he enjoys both cold and hot weather, but the wind is a little out of control. Another person we spoke to said the sudden change in weather makes it hard to know how to dress.
"I don't like it. I like the nice and warm weather."
"In the morning, I have two jackets on, then it's super hot and i have to take one off and I'm just carrying it around."
Another person who prefers warm weather to the strong winds is this TAMIU student.
"So far, it's kind of drastic from yesterday. it was hot and now it's bipolar I guess."
Other people we spoke to tell us the wind is not great for their hair, which is whipping around from the wind. Someone who does welcome the wind is an out of towner.
"I'm from Delaware so it's really cold up there so anything that's not snow is good to me."
Wearing shorts in march is quite a change to bell.
"The wind feels good. it gives it a tropical breeze type of feeling out here."
The wind is also causing a red flag warning which means there are higher chances for brush fires. Firefighters advise people not to throw out their cigarette butts and be careful around machinery that could cause sparks.
