After seeing long-lines wrap around voting sites during November elections, voter turnout has drastically dropped in the ongoing runoff race.
The run-off election affects only one district, but only 400 out of about 12,000 registered voters have cast their ballot in the run-off race for City Council District VII. Oscar Villarreal, the Webb County Elections Administrator, says there will be plenty of opportunities this weekend and next week to boost voting numbers. "We're hoping it picks up. We're going to have voting this Saturday for 12 hours at each of the sites. We're hoping the people will come out and vote on Saturday."
All sites will be open on Saturday from 8AM-8PM, and again on Monday and Tuesday. Election day is December 15th. For more information, the number of the Webb County Elections Office is (956) 523-4050.
