Residents will soon have a new pool to help them cool off from the Laredo heat.
Construction workers have been hammering away at the North Central Park pool.
The pools construction is expected be complete in about two months.
City officials say the pool will serve many purposes.
Charlie San Miguel\District VI Councilman "It's a project we've been looking forward to this because it will be the first certified swimming pool in the city of Laredo which means we can have, we can host official tournaments, swimming tournaments. Most of our youth travels out of town to participate in these tournaments and they won't have to do that anymore."
Councilman Charlie San Miguel also says they hope to have a Laredo tri-athalon after the pool opens.
Two racket ball courts are also being built.
