Many people from Mexico make their way to the United States to shop during the holidays, but with violence in Nuevo Laredo many have had to change the way they travel.
Hundreds of people from Mexico make their way into our city to take advantage of the holiday prices and savings, but because of the violence in Mexico many have had to change the way they shop and travel through Nuevo Laredo.
Pedro Robles a traveled from Nuevo Leon, he said, "now the violence has risen before when it was secure we would travel to Nuevo Laredo and we would eat or go to the bank and now they recommend we don't," and with this violence Robles says he has had to take different routes to avoid any potential mishaps.
"I go through roads more secured, I don't like to go through the city, take a road that doesn't have stops thats continuous."
One traveler said he gets his travel information by word of mouth; which is way he prefers traveling through the city.
"nothing has ever happened to me but i have heard of things happening outside the city where the people making those assaults see that people are vulnerable from other cities,"said Juan Manuel Castillo who also travels for the holiday shopping.
Castillo says he travels often and says circumnavigating the city would not be a good idea.
"I would recommend go through the city it will take you longer but its more secure."
This traveler says nothing is certain all he can do is hope for the best.
"Going from here to Monterrey or Monterrey over here, if you think positive that nothing is going to happen, just pray, nothing will happen thats what i think."
