Paisano Rest Stop

By KGNS News

A big press conference was held Thursday to announce the opening of the paisano rest stop. Several organizations gathered at city hall, including the Mexican Consulate General, City of Laredo, and Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Thousands of Mexican nationals cross the border through Laredo each year as they travel for the holidays, and officials offer a rest stop to try and make the process as smooth as possible.

Miguel Angel Isidro, Mexican Consul in Laredo, says: "We have always mentioned to them that Laredo is a very good point of crossing. They will receive all the information and support they will need crossing into Mexico. A lot of people have confidence in this point of crossing."

For 48 continuous hours, the rest stop will be staffed with people from various agencies to help paisanos have all their documents in order before reaching the international bridges. They will be offering a place for travelers to stretch their legs and grab a snack. The rest stop opens on December 14.
