The excitement has been swirling about the only winning ticket in a $20 million jackpot being sold in Laredo. The winner has claimed his prize, but did not want to be at the check presentation where he bought the ticket.
A check worth $200,000 was presented to the president of the gas station where the winning Texas lottery jackpot ticket was sold.
"As a result of him selling that ticket, they're entitled to a one percent bonus. It's very exciting to be here and share this time with Alfonso and his employees."
Someone not in attendance was the winner of the $20 million lottery ticket. Trevino says he has requested minimal publicity.
"The winner has claimed his prize. He took the cash value option so it was a little over $15 million."
Although he didn't attend this morning's check presentation, Trevino says the winner was elated when he came to claim his prize.
"It's very thrilling. When people come to the lottery commission office and are winners of the big jackpot, you can only imagine the excitement."
The president of Arguindegui says he will put some of the $200,00 towards new equipment, training and also giving back to the community.
"We pride ourselves on giving excellent customer service, having clean restrooms and just having well presented stores."
He says he's always felt this store is lucky.
"We've had a million dollar winner here before. We had a weekly grand winner at this store a few years back so this store has some luck to it."
After the check presentation, customers were treated to prizes from the Texas lottery commission as well as breakfast.
