Bulldogs with Underdog Mindset

By KGNS News

The Alexander Bulldogs continue to make history in Laredo, as they make another run deep into the UIL playoffs. For the 3rd straight year the Blue and Gold will play in the regional round of the playoffs as they look to break through the 3rd round barrier. The Bulldogs seemingly continue to play their best football when it matters most. After a loss to Del Rio during district play, Alexander has rattled off six wins in a row by an average margin of 27 points, including their 57-14 win Saturday over Weslaco. Despite the wins, Alexander still feels like they are the underdogs when it comes to facing state wide competition.

"To me that gives us more courage and motivation to come out and do what we need to do." (Xavier Skaggs, AHS Runningback)

"The deeper we get into the playoffs the better we play. Like Xavier said we're always underdogs and people underestimate us but we come back stronger and stronger." (EJ Garcia, AHS Safety)

"I don't know if we're getting better because we are still getting the same penalties, we're still doing the same things over and over. We just have to try and get better and if we pick up wins along the way we'll be happy about it." (Joel Lopez, AHS Head Coach)

Alexander now takes on O'Connor this Saturday at Dub Farris Stadium in San Antonio. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 in the afternoon. Tickets are onsale at the SAC box office beginning tomorrow through Friday. Their hours will be 8:30 am - 5 pm.
