Cigarroa Readies for One Game Playoff

By KGNS News

The Cigarroa volleyball team missed out on a golden opportunity Tuesday night to guarantee themselves a playoff spot, but their season is not over. The Lady Toro's have very little time to lick their wounds after being swept by Nixon in that game, as they must prepare for a true do-or-die game in Alice. Cigarroa will take the court against Corpus Christi Ray, in their 3rd match-up of the season. The two teams split their previous games, with the road team winning each time. Unlike on Tuesday, this time the Toro's say they'll be ready for the pressure of a win or go home situation.

"We learned about making mistakes in losing to Nixon, now we're getting back and going to beat Ray." (Denise Loredo, Toro's Middle Blocker)

"The last game against Ray we were too up and let them catch up and win the next two games sending it to five games. We can't get over confident." (Alex Loredo, Toro's Setter)

"It's going to take a team effort. We need a lot of communication and defense especially hitting because Ray is a tough team too but I know we can beat them." (Genesis Delgado, Toro's Libero)

Cigarroa and Ray will play in Alice tomorrow night with the ball scheduled to go in the air at 5 pm. The winner will be the #4 seed out of district 31-4A.
