One Laredo fighter returns home Sunday with a championship belt. Sonny ‘El Loco’ Luque winning in the third round Saturday night for the Mexico lightweight championship. ‘El Loco’ opened up a cut on his opponent’s eye in the first round, giving him a target for the remainder of the fight. The fight finally had to be stopped in the third round after Luque landed some more elbows into his opponent’s eye. "He looked very tired. He looked like I had broken him down or what not. So I just saw his face right there and I just saw red and I landed about eight to ten elbows that I remember back to back until the referee jumped in and stopped the fight. It was a bloody mess but at the end of the day its business and somebody might get hurt, that’s what we signed up for." El Loco will be 32 years old soon and was debating about retirement, but after winning his last three fights he hopes to stay in the business longer for some more good fights.
