A pivotal player for the Heat over the past few years is moving off the pitch and onto the sidelines. Dany Galvan will vacate his role as mid-fielder to over as assistant head coach for the Laredo franchise.
Galvan has served as team captain after making his way to Laredo in 2006, helping the Heat to numerous playoff appearances, including their championship game run last season.
The teams front office is excited for this change. "The field general will now be a general on the sidelines. The good thing about Dany is he is very professional and his demeanor will be very good for the kids. More than anything also, the experience he brings for our youth will be amazing. The ones that want to make the transition from the amateur ranks to the pro ranks will do great with him.
The Heat are busy preparing for their season opener as they will take on the San Antonio Scorpions this Saturday in an exhibition match before playing the Houston Dynamo the 5th of April. They will open the season May 12th against Houston's PDL franchise.
