Ibarra Named to PDL Team of the Week;Heat on Top

WIth two more wins this week, the Laredo Heat have taken over the Mid-South division lead and placed another player on the Premiere Development Leagues team of the week. This time it is captain Juan de Dios Ibarra who gets the honor of making the PDL team for his performance over the last seven days. Ibarra recorded goals in both wins for the Heat this week, as they dispatched of El Paso 1-0 on Friday and held Austin scoreless as well on Monday. With his strong week, Ibarra now has five goals on the season and ten points overall, both marks lead the Heat.

Taking a look at the standings in the Mid-South division and you can see Laredo is sitting pretty a little over half way through the season. They currently have a five point lead over Austin and El Paso, despite playing two fewer games then both squads. Laredo is riding a six game unbeaten streak since losing their regular season opener to the Texas Dutch Lions on the road. The Heat will be in Austin tonight before traveling to New Orleans for a contest on Saturday. Their next home match will be Wednesday when they will take on Austin for the last time this season. Laredo's only game remaining against El Paso will be the final game of the year on July 14th in the Sun City.
